SEO 101: Blogging Helps You Gain Exposure

SEO-Blogging-Website-Traffic

When designing websites for my clients, I can’t stress how important it is to have well written copy and to start thinking of some blog posts while I build their website in the background. Some of you will be so sick of me saying “Keywords! Key Phrases! Think of things your potential clients will be typing into google to search for you!”

Not only is it great to have some authentic material that your visitors can take away from, but it also helps add personality to your branding. There’s something about reading someones words in a certain tone, or demeanour that helps you become more relatable with that person behind the business, hence trust is created and business looks more promising.

Personally, I find blogging therapeutic. Sometimes there are things I just need to get off my chest (and I don’t actually end up posting them) but it helps to empty my thoughts and allow other more useful topics to enter my mind. Content that I think will help my clients and readers.

Hence this post - I feel its important to share with you why I really push having a blog on your site and why I insist on having a few posts ready for your launch, as well as continuing to blog (this is the hard part).

It doesn’t have to be daily or weekly, but at least aim for once a month to start with - here’s why…

SEO.

Search Engine Optimisation. Its the little algorithm that helps get you organic traffic visiting your website. And you’d be crazy not to want to show your flashy new website off to the world right?! **wink wink**

The more you update the words and data anywhere within you website, the more organic traffic you’re likely to have swing by and see what you have to offer them. By updating content via blogging, it’s almost like a spiders web or a funnel. It indirectly lures them onto your website (by indirectly I mean, you haven’t paid money to advertise and pop up on their facebook search or web search), whether they were intending to look for your services or not, there was something relevant to them that you posted and you grabbed their attention. They read your post, and then start poking in other corners of your website to see what other useful information you have to offer. Next minute, they’re on your contact page sending you an enquiry - boom! You’ve just generated a lead.

Google uses key words and phrases in your blogs to index your website in relevant search results. By keeping your content relevant, up to date and adding to your websites own content (i.e. the more words you have the better), google flags your website as something current, useful and makes sure you have a front row seat on the 1st page when people search for your website or services.

One of my goals this year is to start launching online courses to my clients. I want to go beyond just creative design. I feel like handing the keys over to your website is unfinished. I want you to completely benefit from your websites by taking it that one step further and showing you how your website is a powerful tool when used correctly.
