Hi, I’m Dani. Nice to Meet you!

I like to think of myself as an approachable, open minded, friendly and wise person who holds family, design and coffee very close to my heart. An only child born in Newcastle, New South Wales with my dad in the airforce at the time and mum being a dedicated mother, the glue to our little family, not long after my 1st birthday, packed up and moved to the south east suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.

It was there that I grew up, made some incredible tight knit friendships, some that have lasted and continue nearly 25 years, shaped who I am as a person and am so thankful for the upbringing I had. All through school, I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. My career dreams changes more often than I changed my socks. I was always the odd ball, the black sheep. I never really fit in one particular niche, I just floated between many and tried to learn as much as I could along the way.

I come from a family of creative and wise influences. I have an uncle that is one of the most jaw dropping sign-writers I’ve had the privilege of knowing, my aunty who is a successful interior designer in Sydney, my dad who is an absolute perfectionist in everything he does, doesn’t miss one detail that man. Then there’s my mum, who strives when faced with a challenge. There is nothing she can’t solve, and I’ve been blessed with these traits which leads me to discovering my calling a little later than expected, but better late than never.

After I graduated school, I packed up and moved from Melbourne to Perth when I was 17. For some reason, there was this feeling of needing to escape the confines of Melbourne and explore what the other side of Australia had to offer. It killed me to leave everything I’ve ever known, but I was also so incredibly excited to see if I would discover my true self in Western Australia.

If you’d have asked me 10 years ago “did you think you would be where you are today?” I would have laughed and said “absolutely not”. But any wise person knows, its not an easy voyage. I was tested, put through some of the most challenging times anyone in their early 20’s would have to face and I remind myself that if I didn’t get through those times, I would not be where I am today. I could have taken the easy road and flown back home to Melbourne, start over, but I’m a stubborn sort and will not give in until I am satisfied.

Design for me is an outlet, its a way to express and help others at the same time. I am so thankful that stumbling across graphic design allowed me to finally reward myself. I have met some incredible people since starting this journey from clients to suppliers, everyone has had some kind of positive influence in my work in some way or another. That is one of the most rewarding things in this career.
